Our environment shapes us and our future. It is for this very reason that we must stand together to protect the biodiversity of the HCU campus. As someone who personally cherishes the diverse ecosystem present on the Hyderabad Central University campus, I am deeply concerned by the continued threats it faces. The campus is home to a variety of species, each playing a unique role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium. Yet, the disruption in the campus environment due to various human activities puts this biodiversity at risk.

In fact, according to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), human activities have caused the loss of 60% of wildlife globally in the past 40 years. Such figures reflect the impact that our actions can have on the precious flora and fauna around us. Our campus is no exception to this global issue.

We must act now to protect the campus biodiversity for its contribution to enriching the overall campus experience, advancing scientific research, and ensuring a brighter, more sustainable future for all of us. This is not just about our campus or our personal attachments to this environment, but it is also about the role we play in preserving the Earth for the generations to come.
