The Issue

The Bergdolt Oak Hill area of Evansville deserves better storm water management and infrastructure. For too long, our community has faced repeated storm water issues that not only damage our roads but also threaten our homes and health. Existing sewer systems are inadequate, causing frequent waterlogging and streets susceptible to wear and tear. Moreover, these frequent repairs are a nuisance, kicking up dust, affecting our enjoyment of the land, and restricting access to our properties.

One major concern is the proximity of sewer manholes to water mains, risking contamination of our drinking water and subjecting us to unpleasant odors. We cannot overlook the health implications of exposure to contaminants such as PFAS, common in storm water and road dust, which pose hazards to our aquatics, soils, and entire environment.

Here’s what we demand from IDEM, Evansville Sewer & Water, and Vanderburgh County Agents:

1. **Install new and replace old storm water drainage systems** in conjunction with the "Bergdolt Sewer Remediation" program. This will ensure efficient storm water management and relieve our community from relentless water-related struggles.

2. **Consider installing new sewer manholes away from water mains** to protect our families from potential water contamination and offensive odors.

3. **Repair all corrosion beneath roads and repave them properly.** Our streets need complete fixing to withstand future use and protect us from constant infrastructural failures.

4. Maintain **24/7 communication with the community** to keep us informed and engaged in the process.

5. Ensure **no driveways are blocked during construction**, providing us uninterrupted access to our properties.

6. Utilize safe materials avoiding **PFAS or contaminated soil** to protect our health and the environment.

The people of Bergdolt Oak Hill have long endured these challenges, but now it’s time for change. It’s crucial for our health, safety, and quality of life that these issues are addressed decisively and immediately. Join us in demanding action from the relevant authorities to protect our community. Please sign this petition to hold our leaders accountable and initiate prompt and significant improvements.
