Tomorrow Matthew Brearley will be presenting his delegation to the township of McNab Braeside regarding their lack of social media policies.
Last year when I presented my delegation, I was publicly roasted by the mayor for spreading "misinformation" about their beekeeping bylaws and was called out publicly for not having enough people in attendance at my own delegation (the time and date of which was changed several times, and took place at a time when most people are at work). The mayor then blocked my business from viewing or commenting on her posts. She maintains that it is within her rights to do so, but in a time where social media has replaced print media and everyone has no choice but to turn to Facebook to get information about what's happening in their community, we should have social media policies in place that protect people's rights to stay informed.
If you live in McNab Braeside and have time tomorrow morning at 9:30am, I ask that you go support Matthew as he brings his requests for clear social media codes of conduct to the council.
