Petition updateProtect Backyard Goats, Sheep, and Miniature Horses in LouisvilleUPDATE: A small victory — and why this fight is far from over

We want to share an important update with everyone who has signed, shared, and stood with us.

Bandit is safe. That outcome matters deeply, and it happened because people spoke up, showed up, and refused to stay silent. This is proof that community voices matter and that advocacy can make a real difference.

But this does not mean the issue is resolved.

The ordinance changes that created fear, confusion, and risk for responsible livestock caregivers across Louisville are still in place. Bandit’s case being dropped does not fix the underlying policy that put families and animals in jeopardy in the first place.

We are now hearing that there will be a public meeting later this month to further discuss the ordinance. This is a critical next step — and it is exactly why your continued support matters.

This petition is not just about one animal. It’s about ensuring clear, fair, and workable policies that:

  • Protect animals

  • Support responsible caregivers

  • Preserve education, accessibility, and humane outreach within our city

We cannot let this moment fade simply because one case ended well. Real change requires sustained attention, public input, and accountability.

Please continue to share this petition, talk with your neighbors, and stay engaged. When the public meeting happens, decision-makers need to see that Louisville is still paying attention — and that we expect thoughtful, responsible solutions.

This isn’t over yet.
And together, we’re making sure it isn’t ignored.
