Protect Babies from Drowning: Increase Awareness and Access to Survival Swim Training
The Issue
I am a parent, just like many of you reading this. The safety of our children is our topmost priority, but often, due to lack of proper information or resources, we can feel powerless. This is why I am passionate about "One Baby at a Time" – a campaign dedicated to enabling parents to take control of their child’s safety. No parent should ever have to endure the heartache of losing their child to drowning, something that can be prevented.
Drowning is a silent epidemic taking precious lives. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death for children aged 1-4 years old, and the second leading cause among those aged 1-14. The World Health Organization estimates that 372,000 people drown yearly, children under five years old are the most vulnerable.
These statistics underline the urgency of this issue. But together, we have the power not only to raise awareness but to support critical initiatives that can significantly reduce the risks. We need to improve education around water safety and expand access to survival swim training - skills that can save our children's lives.
Supporting "One Baby At a Time" is about giving our children an additional lifeline. This petition aims to rally public support and implore local, regional, and national policy-makers to allocate resources to these imperative educational and training programs.
Let’s unite as parents, as community members and make a difference. Please sign and share this petition today. Let's end the silent epidemic and create a loud impact for life.
