Protect Arvada’s Neighborhoods: Stop the Use of 4905 W. 60th Ave for a Homeless Shelter

Protect Arvada’s Neighborhoods: Stop the Use of 4905 W. 60th Ave for a Homeless Shelter
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Arvada, strongly oppose the City’s plan to repurpose the property at 4905 W. 60th Ave, formerly the Early College of Arvada, for a homeless shelter and other homeless services, including but not limited to:
- A Navigation Center
- 24/7 emergency shelter
- Other nonprofit activities related to homelessness
Placing such services in residential areas will have serious consequences, including decreased property values, increased crime, and the disruption of neighborhood safety—issues that have been documented in similar communities. This plan also fails to address the root causes of homelessness, focusing on temporary relief rather than long-term solutions.
We urge the City of Arvada to explore alternative locations and solutions that do not negatively impact the surrounding community and to engage in a transparent, community-driven process that includes public input and consultation with experts.
We request that all current and future plans for 4905 W. 60th Ave related to homelessness services be halted immediately.
