FEBRUARY 22, 2017

Staff at the Skyway Animal Hospital confirmed Wednesday February 22, 2017 that veterinarian Mahavir Singh Rekhi had returned to work after he was suspended by the Ontario College of Veterinarians

In July 2016 Rekhi pleaded guilty to professional misconduct at a College of Veterinarians of Ontario hearing in July after four employees filed a complaint about the vet’s mistreatment of animals.

Grahic video:

The CVO suspended his license for 10 months, "reprimand issued", imposed a $10,000 fine for "PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT"  without mention or reference to abuse or cruelty. Witnesses have come forward with video evidence of the cruelty this man imposed on some of the animals under his care.

In December 2016 the Lincoln Country Humane Society released a statement saying they were conducting an investigation into claims of animal abuse by Mahavir Rekhi of the Skyway Animal Hospital. Nothing further has been reported. A follow up call to LCHS learned that the investigation is ongoing and will be presented to an OSPCA Review Board "eventually". (see press release below)

There has been ample time for an investigation and we want Kevin Strooband of the Lincoln County Humane Society and the OSPCA to impose the strongest possible penalty on Rekhi immediately before he has the opportunity to hurt another animal. Rekhi should never be able to work with animals again.  The maximum penalty under the OSPCA Act for cruelty to animals is a 2 year jail term, $60,000 fine and a life time ban from owning/treating animals.

Do you job OSPCA. Take action immediately and file cruelty charges against Mahavir Rekhi. Since the CVO saw fit to allow this man to keep his veterinarian license, you must protect potential animal victims.

We thank the wonderful people who had the courage to bring this story to the public and those who stand to protest this horrific situation.
