Sadly, a proposal threatens the harmonious atmosphere that so many of us hold dear. The Anderson City Council is considering a plan to establish a Hawk Mazotta motorcycle training camp right in the heart of our beloved park.

This proposal, if approved, would undeniably disrupt the peace with constant motorcycle noises, affecting not just the visitors, but also the wildlife that calls the park home. Anderson River Park is a vital green space where families gather, outdoor enthusiasts find solace, and nature thrives. The introduction of a training camp for motorcycles could permanently alter the gentle environment that has been a refuge for countless individuals.

Statistics show that excessive noise can lead to detrimental health effects such as elevated stress levels and disruption of wildlife habitats. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, noise pollution impacts not only human health but also the delicate balance of the environment. Establishing a motorcycle training camp in the park ignores these risks and prioritizes commercial interests over community and ecological well-being.

What's more, there are alternative locations that could accommodate such a training camp without disturbing the peace and biodiversity of Anderson River Park. Industrial zones or unused plots outside the city limits could serve as viable options, providing the necessary space for motorcycle training without imposing on the park's visitors and residents.  A facility like this is in direct conflict with the purpose of a public park.  Not to mention, no business or "school," as it is referred to should be placed with in the park.

By signing this petition, you join in preserving Anderson River Park’s natural beauty and tranquility from the looming threat of noise pollution. Let us remind the Anderson City Council of the significance of maintaining our community's green spaces and advocate for the use of alternative locations for the Hawk Mazotta motorcycle training camp.

Subject: Community Update Regarding the Proposed Hawk Mazzotta Moto Camp at Anderson River Park The City of Anderson would like to provide an update regarding the proposed Hawk Mazzotta Moto Camp recreational training facility that was being initially explored for Anderson River Park. Following consideration of the comments and concerns shared during the May 6, 2026 public meeting, along with additional letters and feedback received from community members, the City has decided not to proceed with the proposed moto training facility at Anderson River Park. As discussed during the public meeting, this proposal was in the very early conceptual stages. The purpose of the initial outreach was to gauge community interest, gather feedback, and better understand potential opportunities and concerns related to this type of recreational activity within our beloved park. We sincerely appreciate the community members who took the time to attend the meeting, submit comments, and participate in the discussion. The feedback provided was thoughtful, constructive, and helpful in providing additional clarity and perspective for City staff, elected officials, and all parties involved in the discussion. Community engagement is an important part of the City’s decision-making process, and we value the diligence and involvement shown by our residents throughout this process. Anderson River Park remains an important community asset, and the City will continue working to ensure recreational opportunities align with the interests and priorities of the community. Thank you again to everyone who participated and shared their input. Sincerely, Joey Forseth-Deshais City Manager
