Dear Supporters
We are headed for 1,000 signatures in the first week of our campaign - thanks to everyone who have signed and shared.
The Whitburn Neighbourhood Forum continue to look for support from all sections of the community to sign and share our petition.
The Forum work with elected officials and are pleased to see our local elected councillors supporting this campaign as reported in the Shields Gazette
The campaign to protect and preserve the green fields around Marsden Primary School has also received support from across the political spectrum from members of the Green Party, the South Tyneside Alliance Group and the Reform Party.
We have an opportunity to have our views considered at a full Borough Council meeting if we can get it on the agenda of the next meeting on 15th January 2026
The petition will then be referred to an appropriate body who will consider the most appropriate action, which may include contacting the petition organiser for further action.
This process ensures that the council is responsive to the concerns of the local community and that the voices of the people are heard in the decision-making process.
