The Issue
Panda, also affectionately known as Mao Mao or Lulu by different groups in our community, is an extraordinary cat who has been part of our lives for almost two decades. Estimated to be between 16 and 18 years old, Panda has been a cherished member of our community ever since she was brought by the SPCA to be our community cat. For years, she has dutifully served as the connecting thread that brings different generations of our community together.
From watching over our children as they took their first steps to school, to now seeing those same children blossom into adults with families of their own, Panda has been a constant source of joy and companionship. My own daughter was once a young student who had the privilege of being seen off on her school taxi by Panda. Now at 30, she reflects fondly on those memories, highlighting Panda's impact over the years.
However, Panda is getting older and deserves to live her golden years with the care, respect, and dignity she has truly earned. This is a heartfelt appeal to all members of our community and beyond to ensure Panda receives the necessary attention and care she needs.
We propose establishing a community fund dedicated to providing for Panda's medical expenses and dietary needs. This fund would guarantee that she receives regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and a diet that is suited to her aging requirements. Additionally, we encourage the community to participate in a schedule that ensures Panda's daily well-being, including feeding, grooming, and social interactions.
