The Issue

Raymond Walton (Inmate ID Y48205) is currently incarcerated at Menard Correctional Center in Illinois. Serious allegations have been reported regarding his treatment, raising urgent concerns about human rights, safety, and medical care inside the facility.

He has experienced:

• Repeated racial slurs from correctional officers

• His mattress allegedly sprayed with chemical agents

• Metal reportedly placed in his food, causing a dental injury and infection

• Denial or delay of necessary medical and dental treatment

• Confinement in segregation since October 2024 beyond the expected term

• Retaliation after requesting basic necessities

• Exposure to freezing temperatures after being moved without proper clothing

• Unsanitary conditions, including black buildup inside cell water faucets

These conditions violate basic constitutional protections and standards for humane treatment. Incarceration should not mean exposure to abuse, medical neglect, or unsafe living conditions.

We are calling for:

An independent investigation into the treatment of Raymond Walton

Immediate medical and dental evaluation and care

Review of his continued placement in segregation

Placement back into Gen Pop

Protection from retaliation for reporting concerns

Everyone deserves basic human rights and humane treatment, regardless of incarceration status.
