Protect America's Wild Horses and Burros: Frm removals and Close the Slaughter Loopholes
The Issue
TARGET: The President of the United States, the Secretary of the Department of the Interior, and the Director of the Bureau of Land Management.
THE DEMAND:
We, the undersigned citizens, demand an immediate halt to the aggressive helicopter roundups and mass removals of wild horses and burros from public lands. Furthermore, we call on the Administration and the Department of the Interior to permanently reinstate strict, airtight protections that forbid the sale or transfer of wild animals to anyone who funnels them into the slaughter pipeline.
THE PROBLEM:
America’s iconic wild horses and burros are legally designated as national heritages, yet current federal actions are putting them in grave danger. Accelerated government roundups are stripping these animals from their native rangelands at an alarming rate. Once removed, budget proposals and current sales loopholes mean these federally protected animals are being sold off cheaply—often ending up in kill pens and being shipped across borders to slaughterhouses. This is an unacceptable betrayal of public trust and animal welfare.
THE SOLUTION:
We urge the administration to abandon budget plans that strip wild horse protections and instead prioritize humane on-range management alternatives, such as fertility control. We demand that the Bureau of Land Managementclose all loopholes enabling the legal exploitation of titled or sold mustangs. Our wild herds belong on our public lands, protected from corporate interests and slaughter.
