I am writing this petition, rooted in a deeply personal experience of loss. My own dog recently passed away, which has opened my eyes to the heartbreaking reality faced by so many helpless animals - a reality in which they are homeless or endure endless abuse. There is an estimated number of 70 million stray animals living in the U.S, including thousands suffering from unkind treatment (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). We can no longer ignore this issue. Animals are our friends, our family, our comforters, and they have every right to be treated with dignity and love. Let's advocate for stronger laws and penalties against animal cruelty and encourage the fostering and adoption of homeless animals.
