This ABC News headline could not better highlight why we need to keep fighting for second look legislation in every, single State and County in this country.  As of today, there are only TWO conviction integrity units in Alabama, the Bessemer and Birmingham divisions.  As we know, wrongful convictions start WAY before a falsely-accused individual enters a courtroom.  Police corruption runs rampant in the United States.

However, we need more CIUs in the U.S. to lessen the time those who are wrongfully incarcerated suffer.  Once my husband comes home this summer, I hope to switch up my fight to lobby for criminal consequences for law enforcement and DAs who cause and cover up wrongful convictions and to lobby for second look legislation to become normal and expected in our society.
