I sometimes wonder if I’ll ever stop finding articles written about the misconduct of the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office, but, so far, I’m still going strong after almost two years. It’s because Mobile County is a graveyard of skeletons, just like this one, that I was able to see something was very, very wrong with my husband’s conviction.
How sickening is it that George Martin spent 15 years on death row in Alabama because of a blatant Brady Violation? What’s worse is that he was only charged four years after-the-fact, after suing law enforcement for defamation! That seems like a textbook definition of retaliation to me … The icing on the cake on all of this is that Judge Ferrill McRae overrode the jury and handed Mr. Martin the death penalty, due to election year promises he had made.
My husband, Leonard Coleman, wrongfully convicted in the same county in 2012, FINALLY has a chance at exoneration this July. Please continue raising awareness for his case and speaking out against wrongful convictions, in general. May this Father’s Day be the last one Leonard spends away from his children and may July be his last birthday falsely imprisoned. Let’s come together on this home stretch to get him home. Every victory is a victory for our entire community.
Until freedom, (the proud) Mrs. Leonard Coleman
