In this excerpt from one of the affidavits we filed as new discovery evidence in April, the perpetrator's best friend explains that the perpetrator was actually about to go to jail on unrelated charges, when he confessed how he committed the crime for which Leonard was wrongfully convicted. It's important to remember that wrongful convictions are not only difficult for all parties involved, but they also put society at risk and in danger. Because of the corrupt actions of the Mobile PD and Mobile DA, Ashley Rich, the person who actually carried out this crime continued to commit other crimes, as a free man on the streets, while an innocent man, my husband, sat in prison.
