The Issue

A tiny Yorkshire terrier named Rambo left the shelter in May 2026 healthy, well-fed, and full of life. Two months later, he was found dumped in a field in Norfolk, Virginia, unable to stand, his eyes crusted shut, having lost roughly a fifth of his body weight. A forensic necropsy later confirmed what his broken body already showed: fractured ribs, a separated pelvis, severe leg injuries, deep bruising, an untreated eye wound, and an infected skin injury. Investigators say the pattern of healing and fresh trauma proves he was abused more than once, over time, not hit by a car or hurt in a single accident.

A witness told PETA she saw a woman pull over near Armistead Avenue and E. 24th Street, take Rambo out of a carrier, leave him in the field, and drive off. Despite emergency veterinary care, Rambo never recovered from the physical and psychological damage. He was euthanized on August 7 because his suffering could not be reversed.

Whoever did this to Rambo is still out there, and may have other animals in their care right now. The Norfolk Police Department and the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney have the power to make this case a priority: to fully investigate the tip already reported, follow up on the $10,000 reward PETA has offered for information, and pursue felony animal cruelty charges once a suspect is identified.

Rambo can't get justice for himself. Sign this petition to demand Norfolk officials fully investigate and prosecute whoever tortured him, before another animal suffers the same fate.
