I am deeply disturbed by the recent incident where police officers used excessive force on a defenceless, frightened calf. This egregious act draws into question their judgement and their capacity to serve and protect not only civilians but all living beings.

The act took place while I firmly believe that a peaceful resolution could have been made. Instead, the officers chose to use their power in an imprudent and brutal manner. This incident is an illustrative example of the unnecessary violence, inadequate use of authority and absolute lack of common sense that pervades our law enforcement systems.

Their choice to resort to violence first rather than understanding the plight of the poor calf shows their insensitivity and incapacity to handle situations that require kindness and empathy. It is pertinent to remember that those who show cruelty to animals often replicate the same behavior with humans.

It is my sincere belief, that these police officers should be taken to court for animal cruelty. If we tolerate such brutality towards animals, where does it stop with humans? We need to establish a precedent where those in power are held accountable for cruel and unjust behavior, regardless of whether it is directed at humans or animals. We must insist that the justice system steps in, and the officers involved are held responsible for their cruel actions.
