In the serene Lake Stevens community, two parents have committed heinous acts of child and animal abuse, turning an innocent 4-year-old child's world and the world of a defenceless animal into a living nightmare. I believe these individuals need to face the harshest consequences possible for their actions. 

Every year, over 3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States (National Children’s Alliance, 2015 Report). Meanwhile, studies have determined a clear correlation between animal abuse and child abuse, with both offences often co-occurring in the same household (Humane Society of the United States). Lake Stevens must not be another statistic in this horrifying trend.

The victims in this case deserve justice. The 4-year-old child and animal who suffered in this horror need their voices heard and their tormentors rightly punished. For the sake of humanity, for the safety of Lake Stevens' community, and to ensure such atrocities are never repeated, it is imperative to prosecute these parents to the fullest extent of the law.
