In her newly released book, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem shockingly admitted to killing her own 14-month-old puppy named Cricket. Why? Simply because the dog was not performing well as a pheasant hunter. 

Governor Noem callously describes how she shot Cricket dead after the young dog exhibited normal puppy behaviors like chasing birds and chickens. Rather than investing the time to properly train Cricket or rehome her to a loving family, Noem took the puppy's life in a selfish act of animal cruelty.

This is unacceptable conduct from an elected official. Noem's actions demonstrate a disturbing lack of regard for animal life. South Dakota's animal cruelty laws prohibit knowingly and unjustifiably killing an animal. There is no justification for executing a puppy because she failed to meet Noem's expectations as a hunting dog.

We demand that Governor Noem be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted for animal cruelty under South Dakota Codified Law 40-1-2.1. She must be held accountable for senselessly killing Cricket.

Animal abusers have no place in public office. Governor Noem's cruel actions are a stain on South Dakota and an embarrassment to her constituents. She must face legal consequences for this heartless killing of an innocent puppy.

Sign this petition to call on the South Dakota Attorney General and the Hamlin County State's Attorney to criminally prosecute Governor Kristi Noem for animal cruelty. No one is above the law, including the governor.

Cricket deserves justice.
