Proposed Storage Facility on Fords Rd at Mars Hill Rd

Proposed Storage Facility on Fords Rd at Mars Hill Rd

The Issue

Do you want to see a 24/7 Storage Facility on 13 acres at the corner of Mars Hill Road and Fords Road?

Did you know that this intersection is claimed to be 'within a Neighborhood Activity Center future land use category'?  A NAC, such as the Brookstone NAC featuring the Publix and Kroger is a high traffic shopping area.

Do you remember the proposal for a storage building at Dennis Kemp Lane which was withdrawn after a petition of over a 1,000 signatures of folks who don't want to see industrial businesses in the Brookstone NAC was submitted to our Commissioners?

Is this the best use of this heavily wooded corner in a very residential area?

The petitioner claims that 'if developed as proposed, the adjacent property owners will see an increased land values.'  The neighbors are a school, a church and residents. While this 24/7 enterprise may not negatively affect the school or the church all of the other property within a mile are residences. Will this business with increased traffic at all hours increase you home's value?

Wouldn't you rather see a commercial use of this lot - such as a restaurant, school, a farmer's market, a day spa or other business that fulfills an immediate need of nearby residents be a better use of this lot?

Review the petition AT THIS LINK on pages 36 (Z-75) and 74 (SLUP-15).

If you are disappointed with this proposal and want to see West Cobb be developed in a responsible manner that benefits the residents, please sign this petition ASAP.

After you sign the petition, show our county leaders that you are a District 1 constituent and member of the community who doesn't want to see West Cobb turn into East Cobb or South Cobb.

I am completely opposed to Z-75 2022 and SLUP-15 2022. Mars Hill Road and Fords Road is not a suitable location for industrial activity such as a 24/7 storage facility. I am asking that you do all in your power to defeat this Zoning change and Special Land Use Permit.

4. Then add your name and street (e.g. Kim Bell, Fords Road)
