As an animal lover myself, I have witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking consequences of neglect and abandonment on innocent animals in our community. 

Due to limited resources and staff shortages at MCAS caused by inadequate funding from our county commissioners, helpless dogs are not helped, strays are not collected, animal abuse is not investigated, abusers are not stopped or punished. 

We cannot rely solely on individual efforts, volunteer rescues, or temporary solutions when it comes to addressing the widespread issue of neglected and abandoned pets in Marion County. We need a well-funded animal services department with sufficient staff who can promptly respond to such cases without delay.

Facts & Statistics:
1. According to data from MCAS itself (source: internal records), there has been a steady increase in reported cases of neglect and abandonment over the past five years.
2. Due to budget constraints imposed by county commissioners, MCAS has been forced to cut back on essential services such as animal cruelty investigations and community outreach programs.
