Promote the Use of Humanely Sourced Meat

The Issue

Our society's meat consumption habits play a significant and growing role in our world, with both environmental, animal welfare, and health implications. It is not enough to just limit meat consumption; how meat is produced and sourced is equally, if not more, important.

Farm animals are sentient beings with feelings and emotions, and numerous studies point to the need for humane treatment of these animals throughout their lives. Industrial farming increasingly treats animals as mere commodities, often leading to inhumane living conditions and slaughter methods. Globally, more than 70 billion farm animals are reared each year for meat, eggs, and milk. This industrial-scale meat production significantly contributes to biodiversity loss and greenhouse gas emissions while causing unnecessary animal suffering.

We need to move towards a system of sourcing meat that respects both animal welfare and the environment. Not only would humanely sourced meat be ethically correct, but it could also significantly enhance public health. Factory farming increases the risk of zoonotic diseases and major pandemics, as demonstrated by the H1N1 Influenza outbreak in 2009 traced back to pigs in Mexico.

It's time to make a change. We propose that our supermarkets, catering companies, and restaurants prioritize sourcing humanely produced meat. This movement requires government support, businesses taking responsibility, and consumers making informed choices.

We, the people, have the power to initiate this change. Let's use it wisely. Sign this petition today to support the movement towards humanely sourced meat. Together, we can ensure a more compassionate future for farm animals, a healthier future for ourselves, and a more sustainable future for our planet.
