The NBV City Commission Meeting is tonight with the First Reading of the proposed SAP Ordinance sponsored by Mayor Rachel Streitfeld, NBV Village Attorney Tony Recio and Village Planner Silvia E. Vargas. This First Reading will be voted on by the NBV Commission (Mayor Rachel Streitfeld, Vice Mayor Goran Cuk and Commissioners Richard Chervony, Andy Daro and Doris Acosta). If this initiative passes, it will go to next month's meeting for 2nd Reading and final approval.

SPECIAL AREA PLAN ORDINANCE

The language of the new SAP Ordinance was approved 4-1 by the NBV Planning & Zoning Advisory Board Members (Volunteer Positions) Joelyn Losada, Jorge Gonzalez, Maximo Turbides, Ryan Shaw and Sherry Abramson (Paul Murphy was not present). Only Sherry Abramson voted NO and mentioned the Community feedback against the additional height on Harbor Island.

Here is a portion of the text from the proposed ordinance that members of the NBV Planning & Zoning Advisory Board Members acknowledged as specifically targeted for the Harbor Island East Drive Property (As Harbor Island Commissioner Andy Daro is promoting on his social media as the Rumored Ritz Carlton Property).

"WHEREAS, the purpose of a SAP is to encourage the assembly and master 16 planning of parcels of two (2) or more abutting acres in size, in order to provide greater 17 integration of improvements and Infrastructure, to enable thoroughfare connectivity, to 18 encourage a variety of building heights, massing and streetscape design, and to provide 19 high quality design elements, to further the intent of the Village Code; and 20 21

WHEREAS, flexible allocation of development capacity and height, excluding 22 density on individual sites within a Special Area Plan may be allowed so long as the 23 capacity or height distribution does not result in development that is incompatible with the 24 surrounding area, taking into account massing, scale, orientation, architectural design, 25 materials, roof lines, and landscaping elements; and"

You are encouraged to come to the meeting and provide a public comment (like many NBV residents did last month). If you are going to speak, please be there at the start of the meeting at 6pm tonight.
