The Issue

I am an ardent animal lover, and it deeply pains me to see the plight of stray animals in our city, Quezon City. These creatures deserve the same love we give to our house pets. Unfortunately, many of them are subjected to abuse and neglect, a reality that is both heartbreaking and unacceptable.

Stray animals are not just a local issue; they represent a global concern. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are over 200 million stray dogs worldwide. In Manila alone, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) estimates that there could be millions of stray cats and dogs.

These animals often live in poor conditions, suffering from malnutrition, disease, or injuries from accidents or human cruelty. They also pose public health risks as potential carriers of rabies or other zoonotic diseases.

We need urgent action from our local government in Quezon City to address this issue effectively. We call for comprehensive programs that include sterilization campaigns to control animal population growth responsibly; provision of medical care for sick or injured strays; establishment of more animal shelters; promotion of adoption over buying pets; and implementation of educational programs about responsible pet ownership and humane treatment towards all animals.

Let's transform Quezon City into a community where every creature is treated with kindness and respect it deserves – whether they have homes or roam our streets freely. Please sign this petition if you believe in giving all animals a chance at life filled with love rather than suffering.
