In rural India, 80% of females work as farmers though AI platforms primarily depict farmers as only males. This perpetuates underlying sexist stereotypes and limits diversity. To tackle this oversight, DS Group launched the #SaluteTheFarmHer initiative in 2023.
This petition calls for an inclusive representation of farmers on AI platforms to reflect the gender balance in real-world farming. Based on the users' suggestions, we request a more accurate portrayal of diversity, including an equal mix of male and female farmer images and icons. By doing so, it will not only promote gender equality but also respect the critical role that all farmers, regardless of gender, play in society.
