Two of Canberra's most historic football clubs, Canberra Juventus and Queanbeyan City FC, have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in community league competitions. Despite this, their junior teams have not been granted the opportunity to compete in the ACT NPL Boys Competition, where their 1st Grade and U23 squads currently shine. This lack of progression for junior teams is a disservice to the clubs' legacies and the emerging talent within these teams.

In stark contrast, West Canberra Wanderers and Majura FC remain part of the NPL junior competitions, despite consistent underperformance that often sees them on the receiving end of heavy defeats. Moreover, neither of these clubs offers a pathway to senior NPL men's competition, rendering their inclusion somewhat counterproductive. The very spirit of competitive football is hindered when clubs that are better suited to excel are overlooked.

This season, Majura FC faced serious difficulties, being forced to shut down their U16 and U18 teams, reflecting deeper systemic issues. Meanwhile, Canberra Juventus and Queanbeyan City FC juniors are left in community leagues despite their clear potential and dominance.

By promoting these clubs to the ACT NPL Boys Competition, we can ensure that talent is nurtured and given the platform to flourish. Players, coaches, and the community benefit when the right clubs, with robust pathways to senior football, are given their rightful place in competitive leagues.

This petition calls on ACT Capital Football to recognize the achievements and potential of Canberra Juventus and Queanbeyan City FC juniors.
