Presenting to our commissioners that the definition of “adequate shelter” in Wayne County North Carolina Ordinance Chapter 10 Section 1 & Chapter 10 Section 4 to redefine that “adequate shelter” needs to include that shade must be provided over doghouses or containment structures. This can be something as simple as a tarp or placing the dog house in a shaded area. Motion to add a new section of the ordinance about weather advisory requirements for bringing outdoor dogs in during extreme weather advisories. Motioning that failure to do so falls under animal cruelty and is punishable by law. That the death of an animal resulting from failure to do so is a felony offense.
