Prohibit Trophy Hunting of Pakistan's Markhor

Prohibit Trophy Hunting of Pakistan's Markhor
The Issue
The Markhor or Ibex, a majestic and unique species of wild goat found in Pakistan, is at risk due to trophy hunting, conducted legally under the permit usually granted to US military officials. This vulnerable species is listed on the IUCN's Red List and became Pakistan's national animal due to its distinctiveness and the need to protected it. Now, unbridled hunting threatens to decimate its population. The practice of trophy hunting contradicts the principles of wildlife conservation and sustainable use, and has drawn criticism from wildlife conservationists worldwide. We, the Grade 4 IB PYP learners from Crescent Model Higher Secondary School Girls Campus, propose a total cessation of this predatory permit system that allows the unrestricted hunting of this beautiful creature. We request the relevant departments to pay heed to the situation and implement stricter wildlife protection laws. Armed officials should be protectors of all life, not selectively predatory. Join us in raising this urgent cause. Stand up, show your support for ethical wildlife conservation policies, and sign our petition.
