We, the undersigned, ask that wake boats and wake surfing be prohibited by the Minnesota
DNR on the waters of Caribou Lake , Cook County MN. Caribou Lake is a fairly highly trafficked
lake of 728 acres with over 60% of the waters at a depth of less than 15 feet.

Wake boats and wake surfing have the serious potential of:

1) Disturbing the regular nesting areas of loon families due to high waves.
2) Eroding shoreline
3) Disturbing the lake bottom sediment resulting in the release of phosphorous and other
chemicals into the lake waters caused by high horsepower engines and huge waves
4) Spreading aquatic invasive species due to large ballast discharge
