Prohibit the Use of Secondary Rodenticide to Safeguard Our Precious Wildlife

The Issue

On more than one occasion, I and my colleagues at a local wildlife organization have been confronted with a tragic scene – an innocent creature barely clinging to life, because of the negligent use of secondary rodenticides. Take, for instance, the case of a female fox we recently saved. She arrived at our doorstep, a pitiful sight with mange and severely emaciated, her little body covered in ticks. She had been the victim of secondary rodenticide poisoning. With the help of our supportive community, we managed to save her life, but the question remains: should she have been put through this ordeal in the first place?

Secondary rodenticides are not just causing harm to our targeted pests, but they are proving lethal for a variety of other wildlife species too. According to the American Association of Poison Control Centers 10-15 million animals are poisoned by rodenticides each year in the US. This doesn't only harm our ecological biodiversity, but also places at risk the health of our pets and children who unknowingly come into contact with contaminated animals and substances.

By signing this petition, you are taking a stance against this indiscriminate act of harm to our environment. We are calling on legislators to enact regulations limiting the usage of secondary rodenticides, due to their devastating impact on our precious wildlife. Please lend your name to this cause, and together, we can strive towards a world that cares for all of its inhabitants. Sign this petition today.
