The Issue

In my personal life, I have witnessed the severe effects of loud fireworks. The overly loud bangs and booms are, undoubtedly, detrimental to the health of wildlife and pets, causing stress and panic. These unnecessary loud explosions are also harmful to the mental health of our brave war veterans and those currently fighting for our country, many of whom suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which loud noises can exacerbate.

Not only are fireworks associated with a 37% increase in injuries to animals during celebratory years (source: PETA), they can also reach decibel levels of 150-175, contributing strongly to noise pollution (source: World Health Organization).

Given this, I am calling for an outright ban on the use of loud fireworks. This will not only provide relief to our pets and the fauna in our environment, but also serve as a small but significant measure to protect our veterans and actively serving military personnel from potentially distressing situations.

So let's act now, by signing this petition we can make celebrations safer and more peaceful for our community and the creatures we share it with.
