I am an ordinary citizen, deeply concerned about animal cruelty. My heart aches every time I see an innocent creature suffering due to human actions. One such action is the use of glue traps, a method that causes immense pain and distress to small animals.

Glue traps are widely used in Canada for pest control. However, they are not just trapping pests but also causing harm to non-target species including birds and small mammals. These creatures get stuck on these sticky surfaces and struggle for hours or even days leading to severe injuries, dehydration, starvation and eventually a painful death.

According to Humane Society International (HSI), glue traps cause "prolonged suffering" to animals as they struggle desperately to escape. The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association also condemns their use due their inherent cruelty.

It's high time we reconsider our choices for pest control methods that do not involve such cruelty towards animals. Let's make Canada a safer place for all creatures by banning the sale and use of glue traps across the country.
