I am deeply moved to start this petition due to my strong belief that birds should not be kept in cages. It is a cruel and unnatural practice that robs these creatures of their freedom. Birds, by nature, are meant to fly freely in the skies, explore vast landscapes, and live in environments that allow them to express their natural behaviors.

According to the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), animals should be provided with adequate care and treatment in terms of housing, handling, sanitation, nutrition, water access and veterinary care. However, keeping birds caged does not meet these standards as it restricts their movement and inhibits natural behaviors such as flying or foraging for food.

Furthermore, a study published by Applied Animal Behaviour Science reveals that caged birds often exhibit signs of stress such as feather plucking or self-mutilation due to lack of stimulation and confinement.
