Prohibit the Mixing of Pork Products with Other Foods Unknowingly

The Issue

As an individual who has chosen not to consume pork, I find it troubling and disheartening that our system allows for pork products to be sneaked into other foods unannounced. Unfortunately, this is a common practice in many industries that produce food items. They use pork products in unconventional places, such as cooking grease that previously contained pork, pork casings for non-pork food items, and even in the gelatin used for making jello and marshmallows.

This malpractice is affecting a significant population of our society. A growing number of people are choosing not to eat pork for various reasons including religious beliefs, health decisions, and personal preferences. These individuals have a right to know what they are consuming. This unlabelled inclusion of pork products in various food items not only affects their right to robust information but also infringes upon their choices and beliefs.

This petition is our call to action. We demand that food industry regulators enforce stricter rules about clearly labeling all ingredients used in food production, especially those that could potential harm or unintentionally deceive the consumer. This should include not only the main ingredients but also any additives or secondary ingredients, such as oils or casings. We also call for the prohibition of the mixing of pork products with other animal foods.

We believe that clarity and honesty in food labelling are not too much to ask for. It is fundamental for consumers to know that the choices they make align with their values and beliefs. We urge you to take action to uphold the right to information and honest labelling. Please, sign this petition in support of this cause.
