We are horse lovers and we deeply admire these majestic creatures, which is why we write this petition. Every year, the Grand National event results in serious injuries and often death of numerous racehorses. This event shows a harsh reality of animal cruelty in the name of entertainment that our society tolerates. Even in a so-called modern world, these praiseworthy beings suffer invisibly.

Up to 200 horses have been killed on British racecourses in a single year (source: Animal Aid). At the Grand National event alone, there have been 48 horse fatalities since 2000 (source: Horse Death Watch). This goes beyond being just a mere sporting event and bumps against the wall of plain animal cruelty. It's distressing to know that an event which is a source of 'entertainment' for some is a near-certain death sentence for others. We can no longer afford to overlook this glaring issue.

The vicious cycle of the Grand National must come to an end. By banning this event, we can save countless horses from a barbaric end, thereby taking a stand against animal cruelty as a whole.
