Prohibit the Breeding of Scottish Fold Cats in the USA

The Issue

I am personally affected by the breeding of Scottish Fold cats, a practice that is causing unnecessary suffering to these beautiful creatures. Every single Scottish Fold cat develops a bone degenerative disease called Osteochondrodysplasia and osteoarthritis. This is due to a dominant gene mutation that causes their ears to fold, but also affects all cartilage and joints in their bodies. The pain they endure is unimaginable.

Despite this knowledge, breeders in the United States continue to breed these cats for profit, ignoring their welfare. Unlike other countries where this practice has been banned due to ethical concerns, the USA still allows it. Even worse, organizations like The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) continue to recognize and promote this breed.

We cannot stand by while these innocent animals suffer for our aesthetic pleasure. It's time we put an end to this cruel practice and prioritize animal welfare over profits or arbitrary standards of beauty.

I urge you all - cat lovers or not - please sign this petition demanding that breeding of Scottish Fold cats be prohibited in the United States and that organizations like CFA stop recognizing breeds bred for traits that cause them harm. Let's give these cats a chance at a life free from pain!
