On a personal note, this plea arises from our deep concern for the well-being of underage individuals in our country who have been exposed to pornography. It's beyond disquieting to realize that pornography is impacting their mental and physical health at such an early age.

The unrestricted access to pornographic content is severely impacting the younger demographic of our nation. A study published by the Cambridge University Press suggests that early exposure to explicit content can lead to negative body self-perceptions, skewed perceptions of sex, and increased incidences of risky sexual behaviors (Cambridge University Press, 2016).

Philippines, known for its culture rooted in respect and valuing of family values, is regretfully facing this problem, with underage individuals getting easy access to such harmful content. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), being the principal administrator in managing internet content in the Philippines, should draft guidelines to prohibit the accessibility of pornographic websites in the country.

Through this petition we urge NTC and lawmakers to protect our younger generation against such content, and consequently, its harmful impacts. This is not only to preserve the mental and physical health of our youth, but also to uphold the cultural values we hold dear.
