Prohibit Police Force from Acquiring Service and all Animals

The Issue

As an advocate for animals, I am deeply distressed and horrified by the ongoing mistreatment of service animals within our police force. Often, these animals are found malnourished, sick, and left without any veterinary care. The conditions they are kept in are not only unhygienic but also physically deteriorating with old, unkept kennels and holding areas. To make matters worse, these animals, who should be leading peaceful lives in retirement, are subjected to heavy duty work.

Reports from the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) align with these heartbreaking experiences, with several instances where they had to intervene to remove these animals from such dreadful conditions. It is tragic they continue enduring such hardships when they should be receiving the utmost care for their dedicated service.

This is not just about the welfare of a few thousand service animals within the police force. It's about the rights of animals that cannot voice their distress and the callous disregard of their welfare. Animals are sentient beings that deserve respect and compassion, not neglect and exploitation. We must collectively step up to defend their rights.

With your signature, we can bring this matter to the attention of the relevant authorities, demand immediate action, and seek stringent laws to prevent the acquisition of service animals by the police force. Help us free these brave animals from a life of servitude and suffering. Sign now to defend the rights of service animals.
