Prohibit Pets at Home from Selling Inadequate £20 Hamster Cages

Prohibit Pets at Home from Selling Inadequate £20 Hamster Cages
The Issue
I am a pet owner who has personally experienced the distress caused by the £20 medium sized plastic cage sold by Pets at Home. This cage, which is below legal minimum size, has been a source of stress and discomfort for hamsters, dwarf hamsters and mice. The limited space leads to conditions such as "cage rage," leaving our furry friends in a state of constant stress and nowhere to run around.
Moreover, the quality of these cages is questionable. The plastic sides have cracked on multiple occasions, posing an additional risk to our pets. There have even been instances where hamsters' feet got stuck in the bars causing them unnecessary pain and falling.
It's not just about my personal experience; this is an issue affecting countless pet owners across the country who unknowingly purchase these inadequate cages due to their affordability. However, it's important to note that low cost should never equate to low welfare standards for our pets.
Accordingly, we call upon Pets at Home - one of UK's largest pet supply retailers - to take responsibility for their products and ensure they meet legal size requirements and provide safe living conditions for small animals like hamsters and mice.
Let us stand together against substandard pet care products that compromise animal welfare. Please sign this petition urging Pets at Home to stop selling these inadequate £20 hamster cages.
