Prohibit Petland from Selling Puppies and Rabbits STOP Puppy Mills
The Issue
My personal experience with Petland was heartbreaking. I rescued a purebred Dachshund and husband financed a Yorkie from an Ohio store. Unfortunately, our Yorkie fell sick, being constantly plagued with coughs whenever it tries to play. Moreover, the conditions in the store left us disturbed - a pungent odor of urine prevailed throughout. Every time a potential customer would come in to play with puppies, the stalls were wiped with the same rag, hardly an epitome of sanitary conditions.
This is a serious and deeply-rooted issue with Petland. They claim that they do not sell puppies from puppy mills, stating that their puppies come from USDA inspected facilities. However, it's critical to understand that the USDA primarily inspects livestock farm animals, not pets sold in stores. Therefore, the claim doesn't hold strong for puppies' wellbeing.
In addition to the dubious sources of the puppies, there's also the matter of Petland's pricing strategy. The puppies are initially high-priced but they mark the prices down in small percentages after a certain period. The price tag gets lower, but what about the health and welfare of these puppies? They don't see grass, or feel the sunlight until they find a forever home. If that comes.
I urge everyone to take a step towards the welfare of these innocent lives. Our action can drive a change and potentially end the unethical treatment of puppies and rabbits in these stores.
