I’m excited to share an update on my petition to ban non-therapeutic cat declawing in Boulder.
We’ve officially surpassed 600 signatures in support of protecting cats from this unnecessary and painful procedure. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has signed, shared, and helped build momentum around this issue.
I have reached out to the Boulder City Council to formally present the petition and begin a conversation about policy change. While I have received acknowledgment, I have not yet received a thorough response addressing the substance of the proposal.
Because this issue matters — and because the community support is clear — I will be escalating my advocacy efforts by signing up for weekly public comment to present this petition directly to the City Council in person.
Declawing is not a simple nail trim; it is a surgical amputation. Many cities across the country have already taken steps to ban non-therapeutic declawing, and Boulder can be part of that progress.
Meaningful change often requires persistence. I’m committed to continuing this work and showing up — consistently — on behalf of the animals who cannot advocate for themselves.
If you support this effort, I’d love your continued engagement and encouragement as we move forward.
