Prohibit Furries from School Campuses in Porterville, CA
The Issue
Recently, my 9-year-old granddaughter experienced a traumatic event on her school campus in Porterville, CA. She was surrounded by a group of individuals who identify as Furries. One of them assaulted her physically, punching her face multiple times. This incident has left us deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of students on school campuses.
Furry fandom is a subculture interested in anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. While it's important to respect individual freedom and expression, the safety of our children must be our top priority.
In 2017 alone, there were approximately 827,000 incidents of nonfatal victimization at schools among students aged 12–18 (National Center for Education Statistics). It's crucial that we create an environment where every student feels safe and secure.
We propose that the Porterville School District along with Burton School District take immediate action to ban individuals identifying as Furries from school campuses during school hours or any related activities unless they abide by the district's code of conduct which includes respect for all students' physical integrity.
These "Furries" are known to crawl on the ground, bite, bark, growl, meow, hiss, scratch, and pounce on other students. In some school's it has been reported that the schools are putting litter boxes in the restrooms!
This "furry" thing is not just happening in our town, it is happening all over our country. Students are staging WALK OUTS protesting that the Furries movement be ban from campuses.
