My dog once vanished for a terrifying 4 hours after being startled by a sudden firework. This experience was agonizing, and the relief of finding her safe was nothing short of a miracle. I don't want any dog owner to face a similar situation.

Yet, my story is not unique. In fact, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) states that approximately 1 in 5 pets go missing after being scared by loud noises like fireworks. Moreover, dogs, in particular, show signs of fear and distress in response to fireworks - trembling, shaking, hiding and seeking human company.

Hence, I urge our lawmakers to ban the uncontrolled use of fireworks unless it pertains to approved events. Fireworks might be a source of joy and celebration for us, but they could mean terror for our pets, our loyal friends who rely on us for their wellbeing.
