For over 35 years, I have been a committed dog mom and animal lover. I am speaking specifically to the suffering endured by animals - our faithful companions and innocent wildlife alike - in the face of year-round firework displays. The shock and trauma they experience, and tragically, sometimes their death, due to the loud noises and bright lights produced by fireworks, is completely unjust. There's an outrageous reality that people are still allowed to freely set off fireworks, especially when you consider the dangers they inherently bear. 

This problem goes beyond our causing unnecessary pain to animals. There is also a significant risk posed to households when fireworks are ignited within residential areas. We, as a family, have experienced this firsthand when our precious newborn was terrified by surprise fireworks set off by our neighbours. The incident left her upset for an extended period.

Statistics show that fireworks cause thousands of injuries each year. This is a problem that deserves our attention and calls for swift action.

Through this petition, I implore our local community and government officials to enact a comprehensive ban on fireworks throughout the year. Please, for the safety of our pets, children, and homes, sign this petition to prohibit year-round firework use. Take up this cause to bring peace and protect those we care about.
