Prohibit Firecrackers in Bangalore Due to Animal Distress and Environmental Impact
The Issue
India is the most diverse country and our festivals can be celebrated in the most authentic ways rather than bursting fire crackers.
My name is Ava's human, and Ava is my beloved dog. I saw her and several other animals in my locality in Bangalore, including the voiceless ones, go through immense distress throughout the year due to the constant burst of firecrackers during festivals.
Firecrackers aren't just about festivity and joy; they stand as a constant menace to the environment and the mental well-being of our companion animals. Research has shown that noise pollution, like that from firecrackers, can lead to significant distress and long-term health issues in animals. It adversely affects their hearing and can cause severe anxiety.
Moreover, firecrackers contribute to air pollution, increasing the toxicity of the air we breathe. A report from the Central Pollution Control Board found that Diwali firecracker emissions put Bangalore's air quality index past the 'severe' category in 2019.
We belong to a city known for its lush gardens and pleasant climate. It's about time we own up to protecting its beauty and the well-being of its many living beings. We owe it, not just to ourselves, but to Ava, and all the voiceless ones in our reach.
Join me in this plea to the Karnataka State Government to ban firecrackers in Bangalore. Each signature brings us a step closer to creating a safer and healthier environment for us and our furry friends. Please sign this petition today.
