I am a dog owner of three beautiful canines, and it breaks my heart to see dogs struggle when we they are being walked on hot pavement during summer days. Dogs' paws are sensitive and can easily get burnt when the ground temperature rises above 30°C. This is not just about my dogs; this is an issue affecting all dogs in our community and beyond.

According to research conducted by the University of Florida, a pavement temperature of 31°C can be painful for a dog's paw pads, while temperatures over 51°C can cause burns within minutes (University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine). Despite this knowledge, there are no regulations in place to protect our furry friends from such harm.

We need legislation that prohibits dog walking on hot pavements when temperatures exceed 30°C. This will not only protect our pets but also educate people about the dangers associated with hot pavements.
