Thanks to everyone who has signed the petition to date. It clearly demonstrates the value placed by the wider community upon Modern Language teaching in Northern Ireland.
Besides signing this petition, there is a little bit more you can do to help save the School of Modern Languages. Firstly, you can tell people about the petition and get them to sign it. The more names, the better.
Secondly, if you are in Northern Ireland, you can approach your local MLAs and MPs about the situation. Tell them how important Modern Languages is to the Northern Ireland economy, tell them how much you value language teaching and tell them that you want the School saved.
They have the power to save the school - the Assembly holds the Ulster University's purse strings. Ignore the rhetoric about Tory cuts, these are homemade ones!
Without wishing to get party political, it would be especially helpful if people focused on DUP politicians. To the best of my knowledge, that party hasn't issued any reaction to the closure to date.
In short, keep on pushing and don't let the politicians and the University think that we have forgotten about the irreversible damage they plan to do to Northern Ireland's education system, economy and its reputation abroad.
