Fairly recently, on November 30th, UTA Professor Keith Burgess-Jackson recently defended Roy Moore’s sexual assaults against various women, as young as 14, by asking the following question:

“What’s the big deal about a 32-year old courting a 14-year old?”

On the same day, the University released a statement concerning this that stated the views of the professor do not reflect the views of the university and that, as a citizen, he is entitled to these beliefs.

We here at Progressive Student Union are aghast at the fact the University is defending a pedophilia apologist at their institution. Neutrality is not an option here, as this is not a "freedom of speech" issue. That Burgess-Jackson is allowed to hold both pedophilia apologist extremely Islamophobic views as seen by him linking “Jihad Watch” on his personal blog. With the fact Keith Burgess-Jackson is a tenured professor of the Philosophy department, he is in a position of power to propagate his views and both endanger students with his pedophilia apologia and discriminate against Muslim students.
