Hace más de 50 años, mi padre Jesús Estudillo fundó el santuario “El Nido” el cual busca la conservación y reproducción de aves en peligro de extinción, logrando éxitos sin precedente a nivel mundial como la reproducción del quetzal, diversas especies de crácidos como el Pavón, entre otras.

El propósito es preservar los ejemplares para que una vez que haya las condiciones idóneas en donde la selvas y bosques sean declaradas áreas naturales protegidas, y se unan las voluntades suficientes en su auténtica conservación en sus hábitats naturales, estos se puedan repoblar. A lo largo de los años hemos tenido grandes éxitos en cuanto a la preservación de guacamayas, tucanes, loros, búhos, entre otras.

El 22 de septiembre de 2022, PROFEPA realizó una auditoría como las leyes lo establecen, de manera aleatoria. En ese momento no contábamos con los documentos en original que requerían ya que se encontraban resguardados en CDMX.

Nos indicaron que como medida preliminar se haría una clausura parcial temporal del establecimiento hasta que presentaremos los documentos originales y nos dieron 5 días hábiles para entregarlos. Antes de dicho plazo, presentamos en tiempo y forma, todos los documentos que la autoridad solicitó.

Sin embargo, desde entonces no hemos recibido respuesta por parte de PROFEPA. Aún estamos a la espera de la resolución.

Llevamos casi seis meses sin poder ofrecer educación presencial, la única fuente de recursos económicos para sufragar los gastos de manutención y pago de salarios, simplemente por un tema burocrático y mientras tanto, las aves y otros animales aguardan sin dejar de necesitar cuidados especializados.

La autoridad debe tener por fundamento: EL INTERÉS SUPERIOR DE LOS ANIMALES, y con su silencio no lo deja claro.

Cada vez que hemos asistido a las oficinas obtenemos la misma respuesta: “ya la próxima semana”. ¡Necesitamos que volteen a ver nuestro caso! Ellos tomaron la medida de clausura y ahora no podemos recibir ingresos pero aún necesitamos cuidar a los ejemplares ¿cómo le hacemos?

La autoridad encargada de salvaguardar a estas aves, quienes realizaron su trabajo para cerciorarse de su bienestar, y plasmaron en actas que NO SE ADVIERTE FALTA AL TRATO DIGNO Y RESPETUOSO A LOS ANIMALES ahora no nos están dejando continuar con nuestras labores por no expresar su resolución administrativa .

Por favor ayúdanos firmando y compartiendo esta petición para que la PROFEPA atiendan nuestro caso a la brevedad, SON LOS ANIMALES LOS QUE AGUARDAN.

Pedimos nos den un resolutivo sobre los documentos entregados y podamos reanudar las operaciones del santuario “El Nido”.

Simulation and pernicious bureaucracy threatens the life and dignity of wild animals

More than 50 years ago, my father, Jesús Estudillo, founded El Nido, a sanctuary that has carried out conservation work on birds in serious danger of extinction. We have achieved unprecedented success worldwide in the reproduction of the quetzal and various species of cracidae, as well as in the preservation of macaws, toucans, parrots, owls, and many more.

Our purpose is to preserve the specimens until there are suitable conditions, in which forests and woodlands are declared natural protected areas, and sufficient goodwill forces are united for their genuine conservation in their natural habitats. Then we aim to take there each of these animals, so that such areas can be repopulated.

On 22 September, 2022, PROFEPA conducted an audit as established by law, on a random basis. At that time we did not have the original documents they required, as they were kept in Mexico City. So, they said that, as a preliminary procedure, there would be a temporary partial closure of the facilities until we presented the original documents, and we were granted five business days to deliver them.

Before that deadline, we presented all the documents that the authority requested, in due time and form. However, since then, we have not received a favorable response from PROFEPA. We are still waiting for a fair resolution.

We have been unable to offer education in person for almost six months; our only source of financial resources to cover living expenses and payment of salaries, simply because of a bureaucratic issue and, in the meantime, birds and other animals are waiting, while still requiring specialized care.

Said authority must be based on THE SUPERIOR INTEREST OF ANIMALS, but their silence do not agree with their mission. Every time we have been to their offices we get the same answer: "Next week."

We need them to look at our case! They implemented this closing measure and now we cannot receive income, but we still need to take care of the specimens. What are we supposed to do?

This authority, which has the responsibility to safeguard these birds, the one who came to the scene to care about their well-being and stated in the records that NO LACK OF DIGNIFIED AND RESPECTFUL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS IS NOTICED, is the same one that does not allow us to continue with our work, because they are reluctant to express their administrative resolution.

We request a satisfactory resolution on the documents delivered to finally resume operations of the sanctuary El Nido.
